| Gold metal mesh filters with nickel support rings are shown below. Support rings are used to keep the mesh filter taut and maintain optical properties through a wide temperature range. The larger filter has a 33.0 mm OD and 25.0 mm ID and the smaller filter has a 21.0 mm OD and 12.5 mm ID for use in 1.5-inch and 1.0-inch filter holders, respectively. |

| Lake Shore has developed frequency selective surface (FSS) technology based on thin, metal-mesh structures for use in band pass and narrow band pass optical filters. These filters are designed with patterned, cross shaped and other resonant opening geometries that allow the transmission of light at specific wavelengths. |
|
Filters have been developed with center wavelengths from 10 µm to 200 µm with peak band transmission of 60—85% and out-of-band transmission <0.5%. These filters have been successfully cryogenically tested down to 4 K and are radiation hard. They measure less than 1 mm thick to allow easy placement into existing filter wheels, cryostats and electro-optic assemblies.

| Initially developed for NASA, Lake Shore’s band pass and narrow band pass filters can be used in a variety of applications including: |
- Ground or airborne based astronomy
- Space based astronomy
- FTIR spectroscopy
- Terahertz spectroscopy
- Electro-optics research and testing

| 12.5, 19.0, and 25.0 mm inside diameter (clear aperture) filters are currently available from stock in many different center wavelengths. Alternate sizes and custom designs are available upon request. Depending on quantity and performance requirements, delivery is approximately 8 – 10 weeks. |
